
Elephant Man is back with a new album and refreshed energy for the masses. Ian spoke with him about his new CD and his style.
Ian: Hey how’s it going man?Elephant Man: Great Great, how are you?
Ian: Just Fine.. So my first question to start are little convo. What made you sign with Bad Boy?
Elephant Man: The vibe man, the vibe. The energy over there is crazy. It was a move I had to make.
Ian: So…how is it working with Diddy? Is he really that wild?
Elephant Man: Puffy is very cool, he is so chill ya know. He like to come in the studio and just listen. He let’s me do what I want to do. I am not new to this. I know dancehall music.
Ian: On tv he seems like he can be a little mean.
Elephant Man: You can’t bullshit him tho ya know. The man knows music, he knows what he is doing. I got to work with some awesome people on this album.
Ian: Who did you get to collaborate with on the new album “Let’s get Physical”?
Elephant Man: I worked with Chris Brown, Rihanna, Kat Deluna, Swizz Beatz, Diddy, Mario Winans, Wyclef, my man Shaggy.
Ian: (laughs) You have a lot of collabs this time around.
Elephant Man: I love working with good talented people.
Ian: What was it like working with Rihanna & Chris Brown?
Elephant Man: They are great acts. I love working with them. They have great vibe and energy. The girls are gonna love my song with Chris and the men are gonna love my song with Rihanna.
Ian: Who are some of your favorite label mates?
Elephant Man: I would have to say Mario Winans. That’s my man right there. He is a great singer.
Ian: Yes he is. He is super talented, if I must say so myself.
Elephant Man: I agree man..
Ian: So do you feel you will get at the spotlight and/or promotional push as Danity Kane and Day26, because bad boy is really invested in Making The Band over the years.
Elephant Man: I am not new to this music thing. I have been around for a while. I have my own promotion people. I have my own fans. We are different acts. They have their pop fans and I have my dancehall fans.
Ian: Do you feel that dancehall music is still alive, because dancehall acts have recently disappeared.
Elephant Man: We are making music everyday. We still do shows all over the world. Dancehall is still alive. We are still doing are thing.
Ian: Well I am the fashion editor for Middlechild Promotions. So I would like to know how would you describe your image/style for 2008.
Elephant Man: I like to be classy. I love to wear a nice designer shirt with some man pointy shoes. I love colors. I love to have fun and be classy with my clothes.
Ian: Yeah since your album is coming out in the spring you gotta wear the colors.
Elephant Man: Yeah man ya know. I love colors and nice shoes. I don’t wear sneakers. I can’t be classy wearing sneakers.
Ian: What is your favorite track on your new album?
Elephant Man: My favorite song on the album is "Throw Your Hands Up" with Rihanna.
Ian: I see you got the island thing going on.
Elephant Man: Yeah man, gotta rep the Caribbean.
Ian: What are your three favorite songs on the radio right now, by other artist.
Elephant Man: I like No Air by Chris Brown & Jordin Sparks(sings), Apologize by OneRepublic(sings), Shawty Get Loose by Lil Mama. I am loving those songs right now.
Ian: (laughs) It seems like you are a big fan of Chris Brown.
Elephant Man: Yes that’s my singer right there.
Ian: So to close this interview, tell our readers why they should buy your album, and why are they going to love it.
Elephant Man: You guys are gonna like the collaborations. I have a lot on “Let’s Get Physical”. This album is very different. I bring the dancehall music. The tracks are gonna make you lose your mind. Go get my album in store April 8, 2008. I got Rihanna for the fellas, I got Chris Brown & Mario Winans for the ladies, I got Kat Deluna for my Spanish people. I got it all on Let’s get Physical. Go get the album.
