After dropping off her hit “Promise Ring” last summer, Tiffany Evans is back with a new single and ready to release her debut album on April 22nd. MiddleChild caught up with the songbird to find out what has been her biggest accomplishment to date and the lessons she has learned throughout her time in the industry.

MiddleChild: What’s going on Tiffany?

Tiffany Evans: How you doing boo?

MiddleChild: I’m good. What’s going on with you?

Tiffany Evans: I’m on my way to the airport.

MiddleChild: Oh. So you busy, huh?

Tiffany Evans: Yes. I’m on my way to L.A.

MiddleChild: I hear that. I also hear that you’re grown now.

Tiffany Evans: (both laugh) Yes.

MiddleChild: Ok. So tell me what lessons have you been learning over the past few years?

Tiffany Evans: Oh wow. It’s a lot of things. The shadiness of the business and how people act. How you can’t share your business with everybody because it will get around. I definitely know a lot more than I used to. When I say I’m grown, it’s not talking about my age because obviously I’m not grown in my age. When I say I’m grown I mean mentally I am so far and I’m still learning some things and we learn until the day we die, so that’s never gonna stop. So being grown is about responsibility and taking care of yourself. Learning from your mistakes and having to admit that you’re wrong sometimes. You know? But basically it’s about responsibility, staying focused and not letting anybody get in the way of what you’re trying to do and most definitely taking care of yourself. That’s what I’m doing and I feel like I have every right to speak upon that. (laughs)

MiddleChild: Okay. You’ve been working on this music thing for a minute now and taking your time in order to get this album out. What do you feel is the biggest accomplishment that you have made with the album so far?

Tiffany Evans: Completing the album. Just completing it and getting ready to release it. It feels so good right now. I’m happy and I can’t wait for the world to hear it. It’s the first album and I been waiting on it and waiting on it. It’s been six years. It’s been six long years so the biggest accomplishment for me is just completing the album and being able to release it.

MiddleChild: So like you said it’s been six years and you’re not completely into your adulthood yet, so how did that affect your childhood? Like being in the industry and trying to balance the whole school thing. How did that work for you?

Tiffany Evans: It definitely was hard because I had to make a lot of sacrifices with not being around my family as much as I used to before I got into this business. I couldn’t go and hang out sometimes because I had a show or something like that. But my family has helped me out and been supportive through all of this. I’m blessed to have a family that supports me. Basically with my schooling, when we were sitting around and waiting for all that time I was able to finish school which was so hard going back and forth. I got my diploma in ’06 and I’m very happy about that and I don’t have to worry about it anymore. I definitely want to go to college later on. Not right now, but later on.

MiddleChild: Okay. So other than music what could you see yourself doing?

Tiffany Evans: Nothing. Music is definitely a way for me to express my feelings. I just love the feeling of it. I love being around the people on the set. I love the preparation before you start acting. One thing I wanna do…I wanna play in a dramatic movie. I just have to say that. I want people to the dramatic side of Tiffany. I definitely want to do more acting.

MiddleChild: Speaking of being dramatic and expressive, what would you say is the most expressive song on the album?

Tiffany Evans: I would have to say….”I’m Grown” because it’s heartfelt and that’s how I’m feeling right now.

MiddleChild: Okay. So you got Ciara and Bow Wow on your album, who else did you link up with for the project?

Tiffany Evans: As far as producers I worked with NeYo. I worked with The Clutch. Of course Rodney Jerkins, he produced my song. I worked with Beau Dillinger and Mr. Collipark. So it’s a lot of great producers on this album and I’m excited about it. It comes out April 22nd. Just to let you know. April 22nd. It’s self- titled and it’s a great album and I’m sure you’re going to go pick it up, right?

MiddleChild: Of course. You know I’m going to get a copy.

Tiffany Evans: Alright. I’m just saying! (laughs)

MiddleChild: Well good luck with it Miss Tiffany because it has definitely been a time in the making for you. So I know it’s a lot of people looking out for it.

Tiffany Evans: Thank you so much honey. Thank you.

MiddleChild: And you have a good day.

Tiffany Evans: You too baby.
