Kehlani has called time on her European tour to go under the knife. The R&B singer revealed in a social media post she will undergo “unexpected surgery” to repair a hernia, and all subsequent shows on the Continent are postponed. Just in case there was any doubt, she’s pointed out where the problem lies in a squeamish Instagram post.
“I’ve enjoyed being on the road in Europe so so much these past weeks,” she writes. “I’m deeply saddened to announce that I have to fly home for sudden unexpected surgery on my stomach, as some of you know I have a hernia (that squishy ball thingy above my belly button) and it’s gotten to a point if necessary surgery.”
Her planned shows in Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, France, Belgium and Netherlands will now be rescheduled to allow her to get the surgery done and “heal up,” and she’s promised to refund ticketholders. It’s unclear whether her upcoming U.S. tour, due to start April 1 at Philadelphia’s Transfer Union, will be affected.
The Oakland native kicked off a 60-date world jaunt last month in support of her debut solo studio album SweetSexySavage, which bowed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 last month and opened at No. 1 on the R&B Albums chart.
A one-time America’s Got Talent runner-up with the teeny-bopper band Poplyfe, Kehlani left reality TV behind with a pair of critically-lauded mixtapes, the second of which, You Should Be Here, scored a 2016 Grammy nomination.
Hey guys… I've enjoyed being on the road in Europe so so much these past weeks. I'm deeply saddened to announce that I have to fly home for sudden unexpected surgery on my stomach, as some of you know I have a hernia (that squishy ball thingy above my belly button) and it's gotten to a point if necessary surgery. I'm going to have to reschedule the rest of my European tour in order to get it done and heal up. thank you for all of your support. I love you guys… 😪💛
