Cheri Dennis: In And Out Of Love

Cheri Dennis has been on Bad Boy for well over enough time to have dropped several albums by now. However we know things are never that simple. Call it politics, internal struggle, or just bad timing; Cheri has just not been able to get a solid release date. Well, the time has come. We got a debut album. Was it worth the wait?

Cheri definitely delivers some nice, solid R&B cuts. Portrait Of Love is a definite feel good song. She sings to her lover on how they can make beautiful art together…priceless even. Remind You is the never ending story of how “I made you, so act like you know”. It’s always fun to see a female take this approach with a record like this. Her vocals are surprisingly smooth and lovable on records like Pretend and Dropping Out Of Love. Cheri shows her aggressive and sexy side on Showdown. She wants to be the freak that her man needs. Not only does she want to, but she’s capable. Ooh Ooh is a definite standout, if not only for relatable lyrics but vocal delivery as well. Cheri is very easy on the ears.

Good things come to those who wait and although I only caught wind of Cheri a few years ago, the fans that have been waiting since the beginning should be satisfied with the product. Rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
