Mario: Go

As the year 2007 comes to a close we finally get one more offering from the male side of R&B. After several pushbacks and a few singles that failed to ignite a fire at radio, Mario drops his third studio album, Go.

Don’t think that because radio isn’t picking up on his material that his album is lacking substance by any means. He takes you through it on every record lyrically and vocally. Each record is so carefully crafted that it would make one wonder why his talent is so slept on. Music For Love is a very playful and subtle track with sexual undertones that make you listen another time just to pick up on the imagery. Why is vocal poetry that simply has Mario asking his girl plain and simple that if he makes her so unhappy and can’t trust him why is she still with him? One of my favorites is definitely the cover to Keith Sweat’s Right And A Wrong Way that should somehow embarrass Keith Sweat, seeing that he may never be able to do it justice again. He digs in and allows his fans to see a more personal side to him on Do Right and shows us just how adult he can be on Go and Kryptonite. Lay In My Bed is the record that will convince you that you can still be sexual without getting too graphic…and isn’t that a great thing about music anyway?

Don’t sleep on this album. Mario definitely delivers.
